Restaurant Review : Indulge Delicatessen

I decided on one of the steak pies on offer to start and I wasn’t disappointed. Georgie, the Kiwi owner, has obviously learnt from the World’s best Pie makers and the Steak pie was excellent. The presentation was exceptional and I was one of the better pies I have ever had - not just in Rwanda but anywhere I’ve travelled.

My partner is a vegetarian and was impressed with the range of vegetarian options, as most restaurants all in Rwanda neglect this aspect. Indulge has three or four salad options as well as pumpkin and feta quiches, frittatas and spinach, mozzarella and cherry tomato slice to name but a few.

After much deliberation she went for the vegetarian Lasagne and a mixed green salad.

Again the presentation was amazing and the meal most enjoyable. After our main course, we went for homemade wheat free Chocolate brownies with a serving of Italian ice cream. There is a big selection of flavours and deciding on which delayed our decision somewhat. The service was exceptional, efficient and
courteous and we were made to feel at home. The food delivery was also fast, with meals coming within 10 minutes – fast by Rwandan standards. Indulge also offers a wireless broadband network and having a bit of work to do I was happy to discover that the service is available at no charge for customers. So, over a tasty cappuccino I was able to work away with high speed internet. All in all I was very impressed with Indulge - a
much needed addition to Jinja. The place was bustling with tourists and locals but not once did it feel over crowded. The comfy sofas made me feel like a short snooze before the drive back to the city.

Prices were very reasonable with sandwiches ranging from 6,000 to 7,500 UGX and the more expensive items around the 9,000 UGX mark. Cakes and Pastries vary from 2,000 to 5,000 UGX, and juices and smoothies range from 4,000 to 5,000 UGX.

Indulge definitely is worth a visit when you are in Jinja, plus for regulars, they offer a ‘sandwich and coffee card’ – after five visits, the sixth is meal is free.
